Reserve Deputy Program

The Williamson County Sheriffs Office Reserve Deputy Program had its inception in 1976. Starting with only one Reserve Deputy the program has expanded as the department has grown to its current staffing levels.

The WCSO's Reserve Deputy Program is focused on community support and activities but also chartered to be a support arm for many areas of the sheriff’s office. Reserve Deputies are chosen based on the same criteria as the full-time officers. Reserve Deputy training consists of a minimum of 120 hours of training. Successful completion of the basic training is required before the applicant is commissioned by the Sheriff.
 The Reserve Deputy Program reports directly to the Patrol Division Captain. Clear expectations and measured accountability enable each member the opportunity to excel and achieve as a Reserve Deputy. 

Uniforms

Reserve Deputies supply all uniforms, weapons and other required equipment. The approximate initial investment is $1,500.00 for each member. All uniforms, patches and badges are identical to those of full-time officers.

Applicants Needed

The Sheriff of Williamson County strongly supports the Reserve Deputy Program. The Sheriff also requires the program to be an asset to the sheriff’s office and the community. Each Reserve Deputy knows the professional standards of the sheriff’s office are extremely high. The Reserve Deputy also knows the commission is a privilege and all members remain active at the sole discretion of the Sheriff.
The Sheriff’s Office strives to maintain a membership of 40 properly trained and active Reserve Deputies. The Reserve Deputy Program is continuously seeking qualified applicants who are of good moral character and reputation. The Reserve Deputy is expected to donate a minimum of 48 hours a calendar quarter to the program. ( An application is available on this website ).

Required Participation
Reserve Deputies are required to fully participate in the program.
Reserve deputies are utilized for the following assignments;
Patrol duties with a full time Deputy Sheriff,
Jail visitation security,
Provide security at the annual county fair,
Provide security at meetings involving county officials,
Provide security and traffic control at community events,
Any call outs for additional manpower required by the Patrol Division Captain.
