Judge Tom Taylor

Judge M.T. (Tom) Taylor, Jr. was elected Division II General Sessions Judge in 2014. Tom had practiced law for 36 years prior to his election and had been the City Court/General Sessions Court Judge in both Franklin and Fairview for 27 years.

Born and raised in Fairview, Tennessee, Tom is a fifth generation Williamson Countian. Tom attended local elementary schools and Battle Ground Academy. Tom is a graduate of Birmingham Southern College and the University of Memphis Law School. Tom clerked for the Circuit Courts of Shelby County, Tennessee and acted as the County Guardian and County Conservator for Williamson County.

Tom is a Past President of the Williamson County Bar Association, the Carnton Association, currently serves on the Board of Directors of WAVES and is a member and post of the Franklin Lions Club.

Since his election, Tom helped establish a veterans Treatment Court Team that includes representatives from the Probation Department, District Attorneys Office, volunteer Veteran attorneys, Veteran Administrative Social Workers, local Mental Health Professionals and Anger Management Professionals. A Veteran Treatment court was approved by the Williamson County Board of Commissioners in the fall. The Court has already inducted candidates and looks forward to gaining State certification once certain training parameters have been met. The VTC's goal is to return our Veterans to their honorable status.
