Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event

The next annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event in Williamson County will be held Spring of 2024 at the Williamson County Administrative Complex located at 1320 West Main Street, Franklin, TN.

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Events are sponsored by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC). HHW collection events are not county-specific, so any Tennessee resident is welcome to bring items to dispose of at any TDEC-sponsored HHW collection event. You can bring items from multiple households.

Event Overview

When you look in your garage, under your sink, in the basement, or inside your shed do you see a lot of unwanted pesticides, containers of old household cleaners, and other unusable household chemicals? If you answered "yes", you have hazardous waste in your home. Please gather these items for the 2024 Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event.

The annual Williamson County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event occurs once every year. View a listing of items accepted at the household hazardous waste collection site at 1320 West Main Street.

When you arrive at the event, you will be surveyed to find out what county you live in and how many households you are bringing in items for. You will then be directed to disposal areas.

Any Tennessee citizen can participate in the Mobile Household Hazardous Waste Collection Service. The process is very simple. Click here to check TDEC's household hazardous waste collection schedule to determine a convenient event for you.

Additionally, The Tennessee Department of Agriculture runs an Agricultural Pesticide Waste Collection Program that will accept pesticides from farmers.

No explosive, ammunition, radioactive, or medical waste will be accepted at the HHW event. Also, no B.O.P.A.E. items including Batteries, Oil, Paint, Antifreeze and Electronic waste will be accepted at Williamson County's HHW event; however, Williamson County residents can dispose of their B.O.P.A.E. items with the City of Franklin Sanitation and Environmental Services year-round. Transporting Items To a HHW Event

When transporting materials to the site, place containers in sturdy boxes lined with newspaper to prevent spills and cross-contamination in the trunk of a car or back of a truck. Be sure to keep materials away from children and pets.

For safety purposes:

  • Don't mix hazardous materials.
  • Keep them in their original containers.
  • Keep containers completely closed during transportation.
  • Double package any leaking containers.
  • Place any breakable containers in a box, cushioned with newspaper.
